Behavioural consultations for your horse or dog

Kelly has almost 30 years experience of supporting Neurodiverse children and adults and has recently completed her training in Advanced Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.

This skill set means that her focus will be on building strong and supportive relationships with you, which will hold you steady through the challenging times of having an animal with behavioural concerns.

How the consultation process works

Daily life- Initially we begin by taking a closer look at how the animals live their daily lives, because it is important to consider their species specific needs, e.g., what do they really need to do as a horse or a dog?

How and Why - Detailed analysis of the circumstances under which the concerning behaviours occur is undertaken, so that we can really understand them. This also looks at proactively identifying things your animal could learn to do instead.

Learning new skills- Teaching and training new behaviours is a good way to replace concerning ones. It is crucial that all new learning happens when animals feel safe and ready, so we may need to make some adjustments to their management first, before we get training underway.

Ongoing support- Following on from the initial consultation, Kelly provides ongoing support until you feel things have resolved. The aim is to build your skill set, so that you feel confident and competent in supporting your animal.

Work only undertaken with veterinary referral. You may also be able to claim on your insurance for behavioural support.
